JOHN La FARGE
This is John LaFarge, a significant painter, writer, and architectural artist, who made Newport his home more than one hundred years after Berkeley was there. When William Morris Hunt had his painting studio in Newport, William and Henry James, James Steele McKaye and John LaFarge were among those who studied painting with Hunt.

John LaFarge was also a good friend of Winslow Homer from the late 1850's until they both died in 1910. James Steele McKaye was a childhood friend and cousin (by marriage) of Winslow Homer.
